How to get help with Smart Pantry, and answers to the things people ask first.

Contact

Email jeewang936@gmail.com. Say which iPhone and which iOS version you are on, and what you were doing when it went wrong — that is usually enough to find it. Replies come from a person, so allow a couple of days.

Your subscription

Smart Pantry is billed through your Apple ID. Cancelling, changing plan and asking for a refund are all done at Apple's end, not ours — we cannot see your payment details and cannot cancel on your behalf.

On your iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions. The app's Plan & membership screen has a Manage subscription button that opens the same place. Cancelling keeps your access until the end of the period you have already paid for.

Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Signing in

You can sign in with an email address and password, with Google, or with Apple. Whichever you choose the first time is the one to keep using — an account is identified by its email address, so signing in a different way under a different address gives you a different, empty pantry.

Forgotten password: tap Forgotten your password? on the sign-in screen and a reset link is emailed to you. If it has not arrived within a few minutes, check spam — it comes from Smart Pantry at a brevosend.com address.

If you signed up with Apple and chose Hide My Email, mail reaches you through Apple's relay. Turning the relay off in your Apple ID settings stops our email reaching you at all.

Scanning

Barcodes want a steady hand and good light. If a product is not recognised, it is missing from the open database we look names up in — add the item by hand and it works exactly the same afterwards.

Receipts read best flat, in one photograph, with the whole receipt in frame and no shadow across it. Every row is shown for you to check before anything is saved, and every field on that screen can be edited — including the item name, which is a text field, not a label.

If a scan comes out wrong, the review screen has a Send scan details action. It opens the iOS share sheet with the text the camera actually read, and mailing that to us tells us far more than a description of the problem can.

Reminders

Expiry reminders are off until you switch them on in Settings, and they are scheduled on your own device — nothing about what you own is sent to a server to produce one. If they stop arriving, check iOS Settings → Notifications → Smart Pantry first: a permission declined once is not asked for again.

Deleting your account

In the app: Settings → Delete my account. It removes your account, your pantry and your shopping list immediately and permanently. There is no undo and no archived copy.

Deleting the account does not cancel an Apple subscription — that is a separate action in your Apple ID settings, described above.
